Small Businesses Need To Be More IT Savvy
With HMRC’s plan to digitise the tax return process, small business owners will need to become increasingly IT savvy in the next couple of years.
In practice, this means that by 2020, small businesses and self-employed people earning more than £10,000 a year will manage their tax affairs through an online account, which will need updating at least every quarter.
HMRC are promising that free software and apps will be available so there is no need to invest in expensive accounting software packages but then there is also the issue of staff training – and time for small businesses to deal with the requirements.
